FAQs
What breeds do you raise?
We specialize in lavender (self-blue) bantam Cochin chickens through our exhibition breeding program, Lavender Lane Exhibition Poultry. This variety is currently recognized by the American Bantam Association and we breed to their Standard of Perfection. While we are still awaiting official recognition from the American Poultry Association (APA) for the lavender bantam Cochin variety, our focus remains on producing high-quality birds that adhere to established standards of excellence.
How do I pre-order chicks, juveniles, or adult birds?
To inquire about availability or place a pre-order, please contact us directly. Keep in mind that we are not a commercial hatchery and breed primarily for ourselves. Our goal is to produce birds that are of exceptional quality, and we prioritize this over quantity. All birds sold will be graded as pet quality, breeder quality, or show quality, and prices will vary accordingly.
Are your chicks sexed?
Chicks are sold as straight-run (unsexed). We cannot guarantee the gender of any bird sold.
Are your juveniles sexed?
Unless otherwise noted, juveniles are sold as straight-run (unsexed). While we may offer our best guess as to their gender, we cannot guarantee accuracy.
Are adult birds sexed?
Yes, adult birds are typically sexed prior to sale.
Can I order just hens or pullets?
We generally sell birds in male/female pairs. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate requests for just hens or pullets, as this would leave us with an excess of males.
How do I pay for orders or pre-orders?
We currently accept payments through PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, and cash. We do not accept checks, debit cards, or credit cards at this time, though we hope to offer more payment options in the future.
How can I view your policies?
